It’s easy
to take things for granted
in a family,
to assume that you just know
the things that somehow
never get said. . .
But maybe you don’t know
how special you are,
and how easy it is for me
to be proud of you.
Maybe you don’t realize
how much it has always meant
to have you for a daughter,
to see you grow up
so beautifully
without ever growing away
from those who love you.
